Presentation at eCAADe conference

FEM_worl in progress

We have presented the paper Digital Thonet: An automated system for the generation and analysis of custom-made chairs in the 29th eCAADe Conference, this year held at Ljubljana, Slovenia.

In the paper we presented the last developments of the research, related to the linkage of the parametric design model with the generative structural analysis module in CATIA. By the use of  Finite Element Method we want to generate chairs in a way that they can be feasible when physically produced.

In the eCAADe conference I assisted some interesting presentations about the next step of our research: fabrication. Although we must conduct tests using steam bent wood, this step will be accomplished by the use of CNC tools, combining manual work with information work.
